CTE Month Success Story: Natalie Borbone Monmouth County Vocational School District Cosmetology Class of 2015 Owner of Emerald Sky Hair Studio Holds Cosmetology Educator License, Great Lengths certification, NovaLash Lash certification

Natalie Borbone loves waking up and going to work each day. She is the owner of Emerald Sky Hair Studio in Tinton Falls and is a Cosmetology educator. In both roles, she gains energy and enthusiasm out of interacting with and helping others.

Borbone said the education she received at Monmouth County Vocational School District helped develop her passions into a thriving career.

Borbone, of Howell, studied in MCVSD’s Cosmetology program and graduated in 2015. The two-year program teaches students skills needed to deliver hair, skin and nails services through instruction, demonstrations and hands-on exercises.

“My education at MCVSD provided me with all the knowledge I needed to pass my State Board licensing exams and helped me develop my communications skills to gain clientele and promote my work,” said Borbone.

After graduating from MCVSD, Borbone worked as a hairstylist before earning a Cosmetology Educator License, a Great Lengths certification, and a NovaLash lash certification. Today, Borbone both owns Emerald Sky Hair Studio and teaches at Innovate Salon Academy.

Whether she is teaching the next generation of hairstylists or giving her clients a new hair style, Borbone relishes her career. She especially enjoys teaching classes all over the country on Keratin Complex.

“MCVSD was such an amazing environment and experience that I decided to go back to school to become an educator eight years later,” she said.

MCVSD is proud to have Borbone representing the school and its Cosmetology alumni in the community. The district celebrates Borbone’s exceptional skills and work ethic by naming her a standout graduate in recognition of February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month.
