Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT) has a special place in Andrea Rizzotte’s heart. A 2009 graduate of the school’s Medical Assisting program and a 2014 graduate of the Licensed Practical Nursing program, Rizzotte considers ACIT as an important “steppingstone” in her career journey toward becoming a nurse. Today, she is a nurse leader of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry with AtlantiCare.
“The education at ACIT allowed me to flourish in something that has always been a passion of mine,” said Rizzotte, an Atlantic County resident. “ACIT offered me many opportunities, such as real-life work/school experiences that helped me transition smoothly into the workforce.”
At ACIT, Rizzotte participated in the student organization HOSA – Future Health Professionals and earned many medals for her work. In addition, Rizzotte was a member of the National Technical Honor Society.
After graduating in 2009, Rizzotte worked as a certified medical assistant and a certified phlebotomist. She then returned to ACIT and enrolled in the Practical Nursing program, which led to her earning a Licensed Practical Nurse certificate. Rizzotte continued to further her education, culminating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Walden University. She is also a member of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses.
“I treat every patient as if it was my own family member,” said Rizzotte. She noted that even when the “going gets tough,” she relies on her background to respond with “quality and consistency.”
Rizzotte added, “Overall, the combination of practical training, specialized knowledge, and support services provided by ACIT effectively prepared me for a successful nursing career.”
