Cherry Hill-based Plumbing Company Honored by Burlington County Institute of Technology as Business Partner of the Year

Burlington County Institute of Technology honored Hutchinson Plumbing Heating Cooling and Energy Services in Cherry Hill for supporting the district’s HVAC and plumbing programs.

Burlington County Institute of Technology honored Hutchinson Plumbing Heating Cooling and Energy Services as its 2020 Business Partner of the Year.

The award is given annually to a county vocational-technical school business partner for outstanding contributions to career and technical education. Business partners play a variety of roles, including serving on county vocational-technical school program advisory boards, offering opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience, donating equipment, or serving as mentors and role models for students.

“Hutchinson is a leader in supporting school-to-career programs and our mission and vision at BCIT,” said Superintendent Dr. Christopher Nagy. “Additionally, Hutchinson supports our learning community with guest speakers for BCIT’s secondary programs and career events.”

Hutchinson also hires BCIT students outside of school and via work-based learning, participates in the district’s CTE Advisory Board events, and actively collaborates with program instructors to share best practices, as well as the most current, innovative resources and equipment knowledge in the industry.

Also, BCIT’s post-secondary Adult Education Division has received tremendous support from Hutchinson related to technical instruction and apprenticeships. Hutchinson has also been an ambassador to promote the relationship with BCIT and the number of student’s the company has hired from BCIT.

The Burlington County Institute of Technology in Medford recently unveiled its renovated welding and heating, ventilation and cooling system shops, and a new video game design lab. About 17 miles down the road, the Camden County Technical School’s Pennsauken Campus expanded its culinary arts program. These are just two projects across the state that have benefitted from a 2018 bond measure that appropriated $275 million to expand county vocational schools and their programs.

When 17-year-old Eric Mora Jimenez arrived in the United States in 2016 from his native Dominican Republic, he spoke little English and enrolled in a fourth-grade ESL course in the Camden City School District. Jimenez, who still lives in the city, will graduate in June with a 4.0 grade-point average at the Gloucester Township campus of Camden County Technical Schools and pick up an associate’s degree he earned at Camden County College while in high school.
