December 1, 2025

The partnership between Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center and Union County Vocational-Technical Schools (UCVTS) has enhanced the educational experience for students enrolled in the UCVTS Academy for Allied Health Sciences. Professionals at the medical center consistently share their time, knowledge and experience to prepare students to thrive in the vast healthcare field. In recognition of the medical center’s ongoing commitment to student success, UCVTS has named Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center as its 2025 Business Partner of the Year.

Located in Summit, Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center offers patients advanced treatments and services performed by the region’s top specialists. The medical center has earned national recognition for its programs, including the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute and Hersh Children’s Center.

UCVTS values its strong partnership with Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, which has enabled Allied Health Sciences students to learn from professionals who work in the medical center. These individuals are generous with their time, conducting master classes, making campus visits and serving as guest speakers. They also provide volunteer opportunities and professional outreach to more directly mentor and train students.

“Overlook Medical Center has made a lasting impact on the UCVTS community by providing meaningful work-based learning opportunities that model current industry standards and practices,” said Dr. Anne Marie McNamara, supervisor of Career and Technical Education at UCVTS. “Work-based learning serves as a bridge between classroom instruction and real-world application, allowing students to develop technical expertise, professional competencies and applied content knowledge essential for future success. These experiences not only strengthen students’ readiness for post-secondary pathways but also inspire them to pursue their goals with confidence and purpose.”

“The entire team at Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center is profoundly grateful for this collaboration and our shared commitment to education and health care. Together, we are creating a strong foundation for our future healthcare providers and leaders. We are proud that we are giving these students a window into their career interests and are creating strong connections that will guide them to success,” said Stephanie Schwartz, senior vice president at Atlantic Health and president of Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center.

The Academy for Allied Health Sciences is a four-year program dedicated to preparing students for careers in health sciences. The academy provides students with a rigorous curriculum to develop their knowledge and skills, empowering them to be successful in college and career.
