Savino Del Bene has been named Middlesex County Magnet Schools 2025 Business Partner of the year

Middlesex County Magnet Schools (MCMS) recognizes Savino Del Bene, headquartered in Avenel, N.J., as its 2025 Business Partner of the Year. The district appreciates the long-standing support provided by the company, a global leader in international shipping and logistics, to help develop and strengthen the Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management program at Piscataway Magnet School.

Savino Del Bene has had strong involvement in the Global Logistics program since its inception. Representatives from Savino Del Bene worked closely with the instructor, Mr. Araujo, to align the program’s curriculum and learning environment with current industry standards. They were among the earliest participants on the program’s Advisory Board, and their input helped shape a program that reflects real-world logistics and supply chain practices.

A key component of the partnership is the company’s robust internship pipeline. Since 2017, Savino Del Bene has committed to providing internship opportunities for current students and graduates of the Global Logistics program. Each year, the company hosts two to three students as interns, beginning in the summer between their junior and senior years and continuing through their senior year. Many graduates remain with Savino Del Bene while pursuing higher education, allowing them to continue gaining professional experience while balancing college coursework.

Rose Carillo, ocean import and export manager at Savino Del Bene, plays a central role in the partnership. Carillo manages her department with the exclusive support of interns who are current students and graduates of the MCMS Global Logistics program. She is deeply familiar with the accommodations needed when working with high school students and has created a supportive and structured professional environment. Her mentorship extends beyond internships, as she continues to work with program alumni by accommodating college schedules and individual needs.

Carillo emphasized the value of the partnership and its impact on students and the industry. “Savino Del Bene supports Middlesex County Magnet Schools because we strongly believe in investing in education and developing future talent,” she said. “Maintaining this relationship allows us to support students through real-world exposure, hands-on learning and mentorship, while also strengthening the connection between education and industry. It is a mutually valuable partnership that benefits students, educators and our organization alike. We appreciate the continued collaboration with Global Logistics instructor Bob Araujo, cooperative education coordinator Jim Wiater and the entire Middlesex County Magnet School team.”

In addition to internships, Savino Del Bene provides ongoing professional guidance to students enrolled in the Global Logistics program. Each year, Carillo supports students through resume reviews, mock interviews and individualized feedback, helping them develop the professional skills needed to succeed in the logistics and supply chain field. Over the past four to five years, 10 students have completed internships through the partnership.

“Santino Del Bene has proved an outstanding partner over the years, serving on our advisory boards, providing internships and hiring graduates of our Global Logistics program in Piscataway,” said Adam Recktenwald, supervisor of Career and Technical Education for Middlesex County Magnet Schools. “The team’s input helps inform the future of our program and ensures best practices, outcomes and opportunities for our students.”
