Hunterdon County Vocational School District names Vollers Excavating and Construction, Inc. 2024 Business Partner of the Year

December 23, 2024

Hunterdon County Vocational School District 2024 Business Partner of the Year is Vollers Excavating & Construction, Inc.
Vollers Excavating and Construction, Inc., based in North Branch, has consistently supported students in Hunterdon County Polytech Career and Technical High School’s Heavy Equipment Operator program. The company has enhanced the students’ education by donating resources essential for hands-on learning and hosting this year’s first-ever Heavy Equipment Operator SkillsUSA competition in New Jersey. Such an investment in preparing the next generation to enter its industry earned Vollers the title of Hunterdon County Vocational School District’s 2024 Business Partner of the Year.

The company’s generous contribution of materials and machinery has enabled Polytech students to work with industry-grade tools, which helps bridge the gap between classroom instruction and practical, hands-on experience. In addition to supporting day-to-day classroom activities, Vollers also goes above and beyond to develop the workforce. The company was the first host of New Jersey’s Heavy Equipment Operator SkillsUSA competition, providing the equipment and facilities necessary for students to showcase their knowledge and skills.

Vollers also supports Polytech by facilitating learning in the real world. HVI, a subsidiary of Vollers, offered job opportunities to three Polytech students last year, providing them with valuable on-the-job training and a direct pathway to employment in the industry. These students developed skills that are essential for their career success.

Brendan Murray, president of Vollers, has been a steadfast advocate for Polytech’s Heavy Equipment Operator program, offering continuous support and guidance. His leadership and dedication to workforce development are what make the partnership between Vollers and Hunterdon County Polytech so impactful.

Murray’s efforts have influenced Vollers team members, including Bill Brown, a Polytech alumnus. Brown is among the Vollers employees who dedicate time to mentoring and assisting students. Such a willingness to work with students and share expertise has further enriched the learning experience at Polytech, helping students enter the workforce encouraged and prepared.

“We are deeply grateful to Vollers for an extraordinary level of support and involvement in our program,” said Dr. Todd Bonsall, superintendent of Hunterdon County Vocational School District. “The company’s contributions, led by Brendan Murray, go well beyond financial and material donations—its team members are committed to the success of our students, and their efforts have a lasting impact on students’ education and career prospects.”
