2025 Business Partner of the Year at Cape May Technical schools Derek Robinson of the Delaware River and Bay Authority.

Cape May County Technical Schools have named Derek Robinson, Cape May-Lewes Ferry captain with the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) in New Castle, Del., as the 2025 Business Partner of the Year. Robinson and the DRBA have played a key role in the development of the district’s new Marine Maintenance career and technical education program, providing guidance that has strengthened curriculum with added industry-valued credentials and student opportunities.

Since joining the district’s advisory board in 2021, Robinson has offered insight on curriculum development, credential recommendations, field trip planning and advisory board recruitment. His leadership has ensured that the Marine Maintenance program aligns with industry expectations and exposes students to meaningful maritime career pathways.

Robinson also provides simulated work-based learning aboard the Cape May–Lewes Ferry. Students are able to tour the vessel and learn about the wide range of technical and maritime career opportunities available in Cape May County.

Robinson’s support extends well beyond the Marine Maintenance program. He recruited colleagues from across the DRBA to serve on program-specific advisory boards for Welding, HVAC, Culinary/Hospitality, Communication Arts, Engineering and Automotive. His connections and enthusiasm help broaden industry involvement across the district.

“Derek Robinson and the Delaware River and Bay Authority have demonstrated exceptional dedication to supporting Cape May Tech’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs,” said Jamie Moscony, superintendent of Cape May County Technical Schools. “Their continued commitment to education, workforce development and community partnership truly exemplifies what it means to be Cape May Tech’s Business Partner of the Year.”
