CTE Success Story: Eric Krise returns to the classroom as an electrical instructor

February 16, 2023

Salem Co CTE Success Story profile of Eric Krise

Eric M. Krise, of Elmer, has built a successful business since graduating in 1998 from the electrical technology program at Salem County Vocational Technical School District (SCVTS). He recently returned to his alma mater to teach in the same program that gave him his start.

“I strongly support education and training both within my own electrical and HVAC businesses and the Salem County Vocational Technical School District,” said Krise. “My support for education led me to become the electrical technology instructor at SCVTS in September 2022. It is a challenge, but one I also find rewarding as I am part of teaching the workforce of today and tomorrow.”

According to district administrators, Krise has entirely revamped the electrical technology program.

“Mr. Krise’s impact here regarding the electrical program, student interaction, and overall professionalism is truly remarkable,” said Jack Swain, superintendent of SCVTS and Salem County Special Services School District. “He has already made major improvements and continues to do so every day.

His students have completed numerous projects within his classroom and across both of our districts.”

Krise’s students have worked on projects to install LED lights in classrooms and hallways. They also helped complete a new sensory room on the Cumberland Campus for the special services school district.

Swain says Krise has high expectations for his students but helps them meet those expectations. He models industry standards and offers personalized instruction and feedback on each student’s projects. In fact, Swain estimates Krise puts in well over 14,000 steps on average observing, monitoring, and instructing his students.

“I would put our current electrical program against any electrical program in this state and beyond,” added Swain. “I am completely in awe of what Mr. Krise has done with his students and the program.”

Krise’s dedication in the classroom matches the level of commitment that helped him grow his business to more than 115 employees. Based in Salem County, Eric M. Krise Electrical Contractor, LLC. offers electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling services and specializes in residential, industrial, and commercial work. Krise maintains a fleet of electrical service vehicles to serve the tri-state area of New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

“It is truly remarkable that a person of his success would come back to give back to the students and prepare them for their futures,” said Swain about Krise.
