Jay Mastalski, Jr., is a proud 2002 graduate from the Atlantic County Institute of Technology’s (ACIT) Automotive Technology program. Upon his graduation, Mastalski worked as an automotive technician at Walker’s Automotive Service in Pleasantville, N.J., before purchasing the business in March of 2022.
Mastalski credits his education at ACIT for his success, and for 11 years has supported and encouraged students in the school’s Automotive Technology program. ACIT is grateful for Mastalski’s unwavering dedication to helping these students develop their career passion and preparing them for success after graduation. The school has named Mastalski’s Walker’s Automotive as its 2024 Business Partner of the Year.
“It’s time for me to give back,” said Mastalski. “ACIT and the staff have done so much for me.”
Mastalski has been instrumental in the advancement and growth of ACIT’s Automotive Technology program. He consistently employs ACIT students who have graduated from the program.
Those who successfully complete the Automotive Technology program at ACIT acquire the necessary skills and certifications needed to enter the workforce as an entry-level automotive technician.
To influence current students, Mastalski often volunteers as a guest speaker and offers structured learning experiences at Walker’s Automotive. He shares his professional expertise and identifies additional opportunities to support the program as a member of ACIT’s Advisory Board; he serves the Board as recording secretary. He also is an active member of the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), which works in partnership with ACIT instructors.
“Mr. Mastalski is an invaluable asset to the ACIT Automotive Technology program,” said the program’s instructor, Curt Silver.
