Bergen County Technical School District Honors 2022 Business Partner of the Year, Borst Landscape & Design

January 17, 2023

Bergen BPOYMark Borst and Borst Landscape & Design, located in Allandale, received the 2022 Business Partner of the Year honor from Bergen County Technical School District. For the last eight years, business owner Borst has donated materials and time to aid Landscape Design students with their projects.

Participating in the Advisory Board meetings, Borst has made suggestions about curriculum and teaching strategies that will improve the quality of students’ education and that are relevant to their real-world experiences.

Borst also takes every opportunity to speak to students in the Landscape Design program. Recently, he met with the junior class and gave a presentation on his business and what he is looking for when hiring an employee. He also invited students to tour his facility. While there, they discussed the business side of landscaping and related job opportunities.

A true advocate for the Landscape Design program, Borst has donated materials to assist with classroom learning and projects, such as the students’ Community Garden in Fort Lee. He donated a significant number of concrete pavers used as the centerpiece of this important partnership project with the city.

“I am honored to be recognized, but I consider it my responsibility to give back to the community,” Borst said. “It is also gratifying to help people who are making decisions about what they want to do with their lives.”
