Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) honored Vincent Zenna, owner of Experior Electric in Toms River, as its 2020 Business Partner of the Year.
The award is given annually to a county vocational technical school business partner for outstanding contributions to career and technical education. Business partners play a variety of roles, including serving on county vocational technical school program advisory boards, offering opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience, donating equipment, or serving as mentors and role models for students.
Zenna has been employing OCVTS cooperative education students since 2004. Before the COVID-19 pandemic in March, Zenna hired and trained 18 OCVTS co-op students. With the closing of schools in New Jersey last March, Experior Electric hired two additional senior electrical trades students and they are now enrolled in the OCVTS apprentice program in the evening.
“He has always supported his local community and OCVTS and promotes continuing education for his employees,” said Superintendent Karen Homiek. “Vincent’s line of communication with the two daytime OCVTS electrical trades instructors has been superb. He has hired numerous student graduates over the years.”
Zenna’s son graduated from the OCVTS Academy of Law and Public Safety (ALPS) and is now a patrolman in North Jersey.
