Passaic County Technical-Vocational Schools recognizes Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) as its 2025 Business Partner of the Year. Through hands-on engagement, workforce preparation and employment opportunities, PSE&G has become an essential partner to students across Construction Technology and Automotive Technology programs.
This partnership reached a major milestone when the school hosted its first PSE&G Day, an event that brought together more than 75 students for an in-depth look at career pathways in the skilled trades. Students engaged directly with PSE&G professionals, gaining firsthand insight into the company’s mission, workplace culture and the vital role that skilled trade workers play in powering communities across New Jersey. Presentations and interactive demonstrations introduced students to careers in energy, utilities and infrastructure, fields that remain essential and offer meaningful, purpose-driven work.
PCTVS School-to-Careers Coordinator Jeffrey Bargiel shared, “One of the most exciting outcomes of the event was the awarding of on-the-spot job offers to seven students. Students from the Construction Technology CTE programs, including Plumbing, Welding and Electrical, interviewed for open positions and demonstrated their knowledge of real-world skills they’ve developed through their coursework. These offers mark the beginning of promising futures in roles that offer not only competitive pay and benefits but also meaningful, purpose-driven work. Apprenticeship opportunities highlighted during the event included positions that can lead to supervisory roles and six-figure salaries within just a few years—a clear testament to the value of hands-on learning at our school and the pathways it opens for students in skilled trades.”
PSE&G has also expressed interest in hiring an additional six cooperative education students this year, further expanding the opportunities available to PCTVS learners.
Beyond hiring, PSE&G provides ongoing mentorship and support that strengthens student readiness for the workforce. Representatives assist with interviews and employment assessments, participate in advisory meetings and provide guidance related to workforce entry and union apprenticeship pathways, including paid training and long-term career growth. Their involvement helps students understand the real expectations of the field and the many pathways available to them in essential service careers.
“PSE&G values our partnership with Passaic County Technical-Vocational Schools, whose graduates bring exceptional skill, motivation and dedication to our workforce, benefiting both our company and our customers,” stated Sean Ryan, director of utility operations services for PSE&G.
