Marty Faulborn, owner of Gladstone Masonry and Stoneworks in Gladstone, goes above and beyond to help students enrolled in the Carpentry program at Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools (SCVTHS) succeed. In recognition of Faulborn’s unwavering involvement and dedication to the students and programs at SCVTHS, the district has named Gladstone Masonry and Stoneworks its 2025 Business Partner of the Year.
As a champion of career education, Faulborn lends his expertise and regularly conducts tutorials on different aspects of masonry, aiding students to learn a particular skill or technique that will add to their future employability. He also volunteers his time and knowledge by serving since 2015 on the SCVTHS Advisory Board.
“Marty serves as an outstanding role model and mentor to our students,” said Gerald Mazzetta, SCVTHS cooperative education coordinator. “He not only dedicates his time by training our students, but he donates materials to assist in this training as well.”
In addition to the time spent in the classroom, Faulborn helps train students who compete in the SkillsUSA competition. This includes flying to Atlanta at his own expense to encourage and support a student he advised at the SkillsUSA National Championships!
“Marty has spent countless hours helping prepare our students for their SkillsUSA competitions,” said Robert Carrig, SCVTHS supervisor of career and technical education. “His dedication to assisting our students in their technical training is unparalleled.”
Faulborn’s commitment to SCVTHS students continues even after they graduate. He provides insight and advice to recent graduates and employs both students and graduates at his company. While working at Gladstone Masonry and Stoneworks, the students are encouraged to use the skills they learn at SCVTHS and grow their professional knowledge and experience.
