Sussex County Technical School Awards Lowe’s in Hampton as 2024 Business Partner of the Year

December 27, 2024

Sussex County Technical School 2024 Business Partner of the Year is Lowe's in Hampton, NJ
Lowe’s in Hampton, NJ, has come through for Sussex County Technical School’s career programs on multiple occasions to ensure instructors have the materials and supplies needed for hands-on learning. Additionally, employees offer expertise on program Advisory Boards. In recognition of the value Sussex County Technical School places on this partnership, the school named Lowe’s its 2024 Business Partner of the Year.

The Hampton Lowe’s consistently supports Sussex’s Natural Resources and Conservation and Construction programs. Not only do employees work within the school budget when responding to needs for supplies to support classroom projects, but the store has provided grant funding to aid with material costs.

Last year, Laura Pinhas, a teacher of Natural Resources and Conservation, received a grant that partially covered the cost of products needed for her class. When her contacts at Lowe’s found out, they stepped in to match the grant and provide the remainder of funding needed.

Pinhas said the response is appreciated, but not surprising given a five-year history of generosity exhibited by Lowe’s.

“Not only do I have multiple Lowe’s employees who volunteer for my Advisory Board, but Lowe’s is always willing to support the school community by matching grant funds and providing contributions,” Pinhas added.

With classrooms that resemble real-world work environments to engage students in projects they would encounter as professionals, county vocational-technical schools value partners, like Lowes, that help maintain an approach to career and technical education that best prepares students for future success.
